Whether you are a professional customer, partner, or supplier: respect for your privacy is central to us. Data about your device, such as IP address, brand, and the type of device or browser you use to access our services. Based on your IP address, we can make a rough estimate of your location.
To collect these types of data, we use cookies and similar technologies. You can learn more about this in our cookie policy.
What does DPG Media use my data for and on what basis?
We process your data for the following purposes:
Provide our professional services
First and foremost, we collect your data to be able to provide our professional services. For example, it is necessary for you to create an account to access certain B2B platforms such as DataLab. Or simply, if you ask us a question, we need to know how to contact you again. Your data in such cases is processed based on the agreement you have entered into with us or the legitimate interest of DPG Media in offering its professional services.
Keep you informed
In the DNA of our company, there is a strong passion to inform, inspire, and entertain. That's why we like to keep you informed about the latest news in our professional field (e.g., advertising) or innovations that we have to offer. To reach you via email, push notifications, or other electronic messages, we generally need your consent. Additionally, you may also be contacted by mail and phone until you indicate your preference not to receive such communication. Finally, there is also communication that we must send you because we are legally obliged to do so (e.g., when we want to change our advertising terms) or because it has been agreed upon with you or your employer (e.g., within the framework of commercial or contractual relationships).
Analyse the use of our services
We can use your data to analyse our products and services. This way, we can detect and resolve errors or problems and identify which features are popular so that we can further develop them. We largely do this based on our legitimate interest in aligning our products with the needs of users. When we use data collected via cookies for this purpose, we always take your consent into account.
Show you relevant advertisements
If you give your consent through your privacy settings, we can display targeted ads for our products and services on websites and apps of other companies or within our own DPG network.
Prevent abuse and fraud
We can use your data to prevent, detect, and investigate illegal or suspected illegal practices and to enforce our terms of use or advertising terms. We do this based on our legitimate interest in defending our business interests.
Comply with laws and regulations
Your data may be processed when necessary to comply with laws and regulations to which DPG Media is subject and for audit and inspection purposes. In addition, we may be legally required to disclose information to certain government agencies such as the police, the judiciary, or emergency services.
Which other parties can receive my data?
DPG Media does not sell your personal data and does not allow third parties to use your data for their own purposes. Specifically, we may share your data with the following parties:
Service providers. We may use third parties to perform certain services on our behalf or to support us in delivering our products or services. These service providers may have access to your personal data. In any case, we only allow them to process this data in accordance with our instructions and they are not allowed to use it for other purposes or their own purposes.
Social media platforms. With your guidance or consent, we may share data with social media platforms, where certain data is shared with the platform in question.
Other. We may also share personal data to comply with the law or as part of a legal process or legal requests, to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, or to protect the rights and property of DPG Media. If there is a sufficient legal basis for this, we may share your data if it is reasonably necessary to enforce our advertising or usage terms or to protect our business or users in case of business transfers, such as reorganisation, restructuring, merger, sale, or other transfer of assets.
When these parties process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure that your data remains protected as required by European law. We do this by including standard clauses in our contract with these companies unless the processing takes place in a country recognized by the European Commission as providing adequate data protection.
How long will my personal data be stored?
We do not keep your data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking into account that some data may need to be retained for a certain period to comply with certain legislation.
Specifically, this means that we keep all types of data mentioned above as long as you have a professional relationship with us or have an account with us. When you no longer have an active professional relationship with us or no longer use your account, we will keep your personal data for 2 more years in our systems, in case you would become active again or re-establish a professional relationship with us.
At the end of that 2-year period, your account will be closed, and all associated data will be deleted.
We keep usage data for up to 25 months from creation. Insights we gain based on this data will be kept for a maximum of 5 years, depending on the purpose.
Your rights
The right to data protection is a fundamental right in the European Union. Even when you share data with companies, you must always be able to maintain control over your personal data. Therefore, at DPG Media, you can exercise your right to access, rectification, and data erasure. You can address these requests to us via privacy@dpgmedia.be.
Furthermore, you also have the right to restriction, portability, and objection (to direct marketing). You can exercise these rights by contacting us at privacy@dpgmedia.be.
If you have given consent for a particular use of your data, you have the right to withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving consent: if you opted in for a newsletter, you can always opt out via an unsubscribe link in every email you receive. If you find that this is not the case, please notify us immediately at privacy@dpgmedia.be.
Some of these rights are not absolute. For example, in certain cases, we may not be able to comply with your request for erasure because we are legally required to retain that data. We will certainly let you know if this is the case.
Finally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the Data Protection Authority (Belgium) or the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Netherlands).
Cookies and similar technologies
Our websites, applications, and communications may use cookies and similar technologies such as pixels. If the information in such a cookie constitutes personal data, this privacy policy applies in full to the data in question. You can find more information about the types of cookies and why DPG Media uses them in our cookie policy.
Automated individual decision-making
DPG Media does not engage in automated individual decision-making. This means that we will never use your data to make decisions without human intervention that have legal or other significant effects on you.
Still have questions about privacy?
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, you can contact DPG Media's Data Protection Officer (DPO) at privacy@dpgmedia.be or by mail: DPG Media Group NV, Mediaplein 1, 2018 Antwerp, Attn: DPO.
We will occasionally make changes to this privacy policy, for example, in the context of changes to our services. In case of significant changes, we will always inform you before they take effect.
